Facial treatment options to reduce crow’s feet

Crow’s feet are the fine lines which appear at the outer edges of the eyes and, for most of us, are an inevitable part of the ageing process. When we’re younger, these lines only show when we frown or laugh but as we age our skin changes and the lines can become permanent, deepening over time.

It’s understandable that crow’s feet can affect self-confidence, not least because the eyes are such an important focal point. Reducing the appearance of crow’s feet can make a big difference to how you feel about yourself, building your self-esteem and making you look younger, less tired and more refreshed.

Non-surgical procedures such as anti-wrinkle treatments can be an effective solution to crow’s feet, helping to smooth out the skin to regain a more youthful, vital look. This is a relatively straight-forward procedure which take less than an hour, with the effects being noticeable within 24 – 48 hours.

Anti-wrinkle treatments for crow’s feet

Botox is usually an excellent solution to crow’s feet. It involves injecting a small quantity of anti-wrinkle treatment into the muscles that cause these wrinkling, temporarily preventing nerve signals from reaching the muscle. This causes the muscle to relax and the lines and wrinkles to become smoother and less pronounced. Treatment takes around 20 minutes and the effects usually last three to four months.

Dermal fillers

While anti-wrinkle treatments are the preferred treatment for crow’s feet, dermal fillers can be helpful to reduce facial frown lines and nasolabial folds, the creases between the nose and the mouth. Feint to moderate lines can be treated by injecting a natural substance, hyaluronic acid, into the skin to restore plumpness. More pronounced lines are treated with hyaluronic acid mixed with a longer-acting filler. Each treatment takes 30 – 40 minutes and the effects last for one to two years. When you attend your initial appointment we can discuss the overall look you would like to achieve and advise you on the best course of treatment.
